What baby names did your partner seriously suggest that you absolutely vetoed?

Or conversely, what baby names did you seriously suggest that your partner absolutely vetoed? Why?

Assuming that both parents are/were involved in the child's life, who had more influence over its name, the mother or the father?

What baby names did your partner seriously suggest that you absolutely vetoed?
I'm not even trying to concieve, but my fiance and I throw around names all the time, for fun and preplanning.

I've already vetoed Leanne and Ernest at all, and Kenneth as a first name. Kenneth is my fiance's middle name, and it's his father's, grandfather's, and brother-in-law's first name. I couldn't bring myself to even think about bringing a fourth Ken into the family. I don't mind it as a middle name, though.

He's absolutely vetoed Sebastian, Charlotte, Harper, Ivy, Kennedy, and Penelope. Margaret is my grandmother's name, so since I'm willing to keep Kenneth as a middle name, he's agreed to keep Margaret as a middle name only.

I don't have kids yet, but I'm assuming I'm going to have the final say, because I have more ideas and stronger opinions than he does.
Reply:On one of our twin boys my husband wanted Bocephus! I had final say and it was Alexander after my grandfather. Report Abuse

Reply:My Ex wanted to name our son George Lucas.

Then he wanted Lucas Sky.

with our second daughter, we ended up putting names into a hat and choosing that way. I can't imagine how poor Ellie would have felt if she'd gotten some of the more.....unusual.....names. (Galadriel was in there)....lol

*He was a bit of a star wars buff*

My current husband and I discussed the girls' names together and he came up with some really good suggestions. Faelene is our oldest together and Lillian is our baby.

He did want to give fae the middle name Avariel......I was not down with that. But my oldest daughter came up with an idea....when she was about 5 she said "Mommy, I think that you should name my new baby sister.....Belle Ariel Jasmine." Ariel stuck. And now fae's initials spell fayt as that's what her dad and I believe brought us together, and kept us together after all the sh*t we've been through.
Reply:My husband suggested 'Nori' for a boy. Like hell buddy!!

I pretty much did all the suggesting from there on in with both the kids and he just said yes and no. He didn't really care as long as he didn't hate it. It infuriated me when I got more no's than yes's. But in the end we both agreed and our kids have beautiful names. Now I am trying to pick the third! Thats really hard.
Reply:Husband wanted Zane

I wanted Ty...I won Hehe because I brought up the point that our child would most likely be called "inzane" later in life.
Reply:I wanted to call my daughter "Daisy" in the days after she was born.

Thank god my husband had the guts to stand up to me! He decided on Shae-Anne.

He wanted to call our son "Brutes"

Thank god I had the guts to stand up to him and we named our son Jaxen!!

We laugh at the situation often and imagine our kids were called...Daisy %26amp; Brutes!!!! LMAO..
Reply:Otto - Because his initials would have been L.O.G.

And we both had influence, but I did all the research on the meanings and spellings and I tend to be the pushier of the two of us...so the bottom line came down to me.

*****One word....

LOG ...

I took the first name, I let daddy have the middle name and last name... :) but I drew the line at log.
Reply:I really liked the name Sabrina....but my husband said that it reminded him too much of the Teenage witch.

As far as who has more control....It's more like you pick a girl's name, I pick and boy's and we both have final veto power. (like he vetoed Sabrina)
Reply:i dont have kids but when i was born my parents decided not to know the sex so my mom picked the girl name (with some of my dads approval) and my dad picked the boy name i would like to thank god im a girl otherwise i would have been Zebulin Thomas Z- last name lolol horrible (pronounced like zeb-u-lynn)
Reply:My husband wanted to name a boy after his grandfather "Albert Henry" I drew the line and said no way to Albert, I agreed to consider Henry IF it was a boy. Thank god we had a girl...

For a boy I had sugested using his first name as a baby boys middle name and he said no way!
Reply:Niles. Seriously.
Reply:I liked Violet and Flora and he said they sounded like something you clean the floor with.
Reply:If we were having a boy then he wanted the middle name to be Tariq since I said the baby couldn't be a junior (I later changed my mind) and although I love the name Tariq I couldn't risk my child's initials being A.T.M!!! lol. so Tariq was thrown out and I agreed to the baby being a junior but IT'S A GIRL!!!!
Reply:Houston. We have a daughter named Savannah and he wanted to name our next child Houston. There was no way our children were going to all be named after cities. We are expecting our second child and have both vetoed tons of names. In the end Im sure I will have more say, I picked our daughters name and he didnt even like it at first, but he loves it now, I just know I wont give in to something I think is awful, (like naming the baby after a basketball player)
Reply:I love the names Adelyn. Lexis, Mackenzie, Brooklyn...and my hubby said no to all. =( Sometimes I think he justy wants to be difficult. Grrr...
Reply:i vetoed Kelly... i've had bad experiences with kelly's and since our last name starts with a K i didn't like the alliteration factor. he's vetoed Ryan and Zackary just because he didn't like the names. we've agreed on Ashton for a boy and Taylor for a girl... whenever it may happen. but he does say it ultimately comes down to me cuz i'll be having the kids haha
Reply:Oh some of them I can't say it out loud.
Reply:Peter! We were looking for biblical names, and although I liked it, I just couldnt do that to a boy! Maybe they don't call boy parts 'peters' anymore but they did when I was young and I figured,w hy risk it? :)

He vetoed most of my girl names--Amelia and Lillian.

Finally settled on Eli!
Reply:TaBucky.....b/c he has a weird name he wants to give our child a weird name and i'm just not having that.
Reply:our first child we named matthew aaron i wanted him named michael duane after his dad he said no...and our daughter five years later i wanted to use the name moliene it was his mothers middle name again he said no...so we named her morgan taylor ..which taylor was her maiden name..aaron for his grandfather his middle name was albert ..we didnt want to date their names anyway so everything we own is registered to 3m%26amp;cj
Reply:The only say that my husband had in the naming of our kids was the middle name of our daughter . I chose all of the other names

touch-me-not
