How Tacky do you think it is to combine 2 peoples names to create a babies name.?

Like for instance: Thomas and Sandra = Thomasandra?

or Jonathan and Kendra = Jondra

I think its ridiculous! Does anyone agree??? Why do people do this to their poor kids!

How Tacky do you think it is to combine 2 peoples names to create a babies name.?
For the most part, its pretty bad! But rarely it works out...

here are some funny ones i came up with based on people i know....

What about Nathan And Kristy??

Nasty!!

Frank and Heather

Feather!

John And Sue

Jue!

Cassie and Jake

Cake!!!
Reply:If the two peoples names combine to make an actual name, that's been established as a name than bonus. However, I do agree if they combine to form a never before heard name, such as what you said above. Like for example if the Dad's name is Lee and the Mom's is Anne or Anna than to make LeighAnn would be fine with me.
Reply:Some of the combinations people come up with here are just God awful. I wish they would remember that they should be choosing a baby's name for the BABY, not for themselves. All their "creativity" might seem like a great idea at the time, but they aren't the ones who are going to have to live with the stupid name they come up with.
Reply:my dads name is ruben and his wife is elsa... and they named my half sister ruelsy... sounds way better in spanish then english and thankfully they live in the caribbean so it works for her but when she comes here may be hard for people to pronounce... another funny one is when they name kids but forget to translate in english... like Sohairy sounds okay in spanish but really... in english... that better not be a hairy kid... lol
Reply:It's so stupid. So many adults do it too. I have to friends, Fany and Jason. I always call them Fason and Jany. It annoys me when kids get a name that is not respectable. My child, Meghan, got her first name from my middle name and her middle name from my grandmother. think that is reasonable, not tacky. But combonation is tacky!
Reply:This is a funny one!!!!! lol I dont like when people do this either like it is so stupid some times, but I guess they think there coming up with a good unique name lol. My boyfriends cousin in laws parents names are Fred and Ella and her name is Fredella pronounced Fer-della which is a cool name I think but you do make a good point
Reply:It kind of depends on the two names that are picked. Like, for instance, Alexander+Aria=Alexandria or Kate+Lyndon (as in the president)=Katelyn

Like I said, it all depends on the two names that are chosen to be combined.
Reply:I don't think it is a horrible idea if the names together create an actual name. I though about using Adele to honor my grandma Dena Elizabeth.

The names you list are horrible and tacky though but sometimes it works.
Reply:It really depends on which names your combining. Some of them are actually cute.

My friend Named her daughters Scotlyn (Their middle names are Scott %26amp; Lynn) %26amp; Chaslyn (Grandpas middle names Chaz %26amp; Lynn) I think those are cute! Your examples however are horrible names. :)

God Bless!
Reply:yea! that is so stupid. but what if people got the name ...... Elaine from Elliot and Laina? or Samantha from Samuel and Amanda or something? thats good and bad...

i like joined names like rose-anne, or marie-claire but not the lame ones like Jondra :) (:
Reply:I guess it depends on the names. I've known an Isaac and Belinda who had a dd named Isabel. And a Truman and Leeann who had a Trulee. Those I like, it's the Ricken (rick and karen) that I can live without.
Reply:It's sad. Really sad. The baby will be teased at school. Stared at when he/she wears a name-tag and, when interviewed for a job, will have the interviewer staring at him/her. Not a nice thing to do to a child!
Reply:yes I agree completely it sounds absolutely horrible when you try to just combine names like that. It seems like they're barely putting any effort into choosing the names they'll be saying quite often for the next 18 or so years.
Reply:I think SOME names would work...but not all.

Like my husband Robbie, and me Courtney

Robney (lol) wouldn't work. Neither would Courtbie

But maybe Alex and Lisa would: Alexis?
Reply:some names put together are stupid, parents need to think that a child grows up feeling stupid and will do anything to disguise the name they were given.
Reply:My cousin named his daughter Phylicia (Felicia) His name is Philip (Phil for short) and his wife's name is Alicia.
Reply:Choosing the baby's name is but one of the many forms of legal child abuse parents may engage in.
Reply:It's overwhemingly dumb.
Reply:agreed.
Reply:stupid i fell bad for the kids

  1. I agree on some point, but I no where near ready to even think about having kids.

My mother's name is Kari and my father's name is David, so I can't think of any way those would work, but in my family it's more traditional to pass down middle names, and I was thinking of combining my parents middle names.

My dad's is Louis and my mom's is Ann, so I would make it Louann. I like it! (I don't know what I'd do for a boy, probably something from my future husbands side, or Annis, but I really don't like that)

And if I have another kid I could work in my future husbands parents middle names. I think yes it is tacky, but is it any more cliche then passing down a name?
