Guidelines for choosing names for new babies?

do you have any guidelines in choosing your baby's name? if you do can you please post them?

Guidelines for choosing names for new babies?
Use regular names , not airy-fairy fanciful names . For boys , masculine sounding names , for girls pretty , feminine names . Try not to choose names that will certainly be abbreviated . Remember children will grow up and have to live with those names ; choose names you think they will like , not stupid out of this world names that can be made fun of at school . My children are Geoffrey , Katharine and Sebastian , as an example .

Geoffrey does get called Geoff. and Sebastian , Seb. , but not too much . My middle name is a family name after my much loved great-grandmother , Penrose ; when boys at school heard it on rare occasions , they used to dance around calling me Primrose ; had I not had a good sense of humour i could have be very upset by it .
Reply:Your baby's name has to be common, but pretty! He or she will have to live with this name, so it better be acceptable to others and he or her self! You can never go wrong on Michael for a son! Rose is getting popular these days, for a girl! Good Luck!
